Celebrate National Police Week (May 10- 16) and Emergency Medical Services Week (May 17- 23) by buying a brick in support of the Community Public Safety Tribute planned for downtown Gainesville’s Roosevelt Square.
The tribute is the result of a partnership between the Rotary Clubs of Gainesville, Hall County and South Hall who want to honor local public safety personnel. The tribute will be surrounded by bricks which can be purchased and marked with the names of current or former public safety personnel as well as community members who want to show their support for these men and women, who, through the choice of their profession, reflect the Rotary motto: “Service Above Self.”
Since its inception, the tribute has served as the impetus for an even larger renovation of Roosevelt Square by City of Gainesville officials. The tribute’s completion date is now summer 2016.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the project thus far, and we strongly encourage the community to take advantage of this opportunity to honor the men and women who serve us on the front lines each and every day,” said Lona Pope, chair of the Community Public Safety Tribute Committee.
Bricks are available for purchase for $50 and replica bricks are available for $30. They can be purchased online at thatsmybrick.com/rotaryproject. To get more information or to purchase a brick via mail, please contact Michele Parden at firstname.lastname@example.org or 770-531-6765.
