The portion of Sardis Road that was washed out following heavy rains in the area has reopened.
Hall County Engineer Kevin McInturff said the on-call contractor for the project, Simpson Trucking & Grading, completed work on the roadway Saturday.
"Despite continuous wet weather that caused unavoidable delays, Simpson's crews went above and beyond to make sure these repairs were made as quickly as possible," he said. "Whenever the weather permitted, they were out there late into the night, making sure the job got done."
Hall County officials responded to the affected portion of the roadway between the Sardis Compactor Site and Sardis Elementary School on Oct. 2 and immediately secured the area.
"Our first priority is always the safety of our citizens," Hall County Administrator Randy Knighton said. "We appreciate the public's patience as repairs were made to ensure this road was safe to drive on once again."
A detour was put in place while repair work occurred. Sardis Road reopened shortly following the completion of those repairs.
