Hall County’s three community centers will be closed on Sundays beginning Sunday, March 5.
North Hall Community Center, Mulberry Creek Community Center and East Hall Community Center are being closed as a result of a mid-year budget reduction, which was voted on by the Hall County Board of Commissioners at their regularly scheduled voting meeting on Jan. 12. The reduction is a proactive measure to reduce Hall County’s overall Fiscal Year 2017 budget by approximately $1 million. The reductions will primarily be made within individual County departments in order to have a minimal interruption to standard County operations.
“Hall County has a strong financial position, and in order to maintain that healthy standing, we have adopted a budget amendment to better position us as we enter into the second half of the fiscal year,” said Hall County Financial Services Director Zach Propes.
The community centers are currently only open between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sundays, which is also the day of the week they are least utilized by the public. Hall County community centers will continue to operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
