The operations division commands and provides emergency services for over 25,000 calls for assistance annually. This division consists of two battalions. Combined, the battalions are composed of 15 stations, 15 engine companies, 16 advanced life support ambulances, 1 advanced life support engine, 1 ladder company, 2 rescue companies, 1 water tender, 1 marine/fire rescue unit, and 1 hazardous materials response unit.
 In addition to emergency responses, operations personnel are tasked with inspecting and maintaining over 5,000 fire hydrants, pre-fire planning over 4,000 commercial properties, and completing prescribed continuing education courses. In 2008, operations personnel logged over 109,000 training hours.
