District 2 Commissioner Billy Powell, a Hall County native, began his second four-year term of office in 2009. He is a commercial realtor with Hokayem Company. With a degree in Industrial Engineering and two decades of project management experience, Commissioner Powell is acutely aware of the need for efficient processes and effective service in the government's day-to-day operations. He welcomes his constituents' ideas and concerns, and works with staff to implement solutions.
As a member of the Hall County Board of Commissioners, Mr. Powell is active in ongoing SPLOST infrastructure projects and strives to be a good steward of taxpayer dollars. He worked hard to make sure that the largest construction project ever undertaken in Hall County, the $54-million jail facility, was completed on time and under budget in 2007.
The Commissioner and his wife, Helen, are parents of daughters Carolyn and Molly, and son Will. The Powells are active members of Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
