On July 28, 2011, Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team recovered a second vehicle from the waters of Lake Lanier at Mountain View Park within the span of one week. The vehicles’ discovery was initially reported by a fisherman who located them while using his boat’s sonar device.
Divers recovered the 2003 Toyota Four-Runner in approximately 23 feet of water, directly out from the boat ramp. The vehicle was originally reported stolen in November 2004 from Oakwood.
The first vehicle, a stolen 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, was recovered on July 26th, approximately 75 feet from the more recent one. Both vehicles appeared to have been intentionally rolled into the lake via the boat ramp, and there was no evidence of any further crimes immediately associated with either one.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
