Two Hall County parks are sporting some new features just in time for fall!
New playground equipment has been installed at East Hall Park and Cool Springs Park.
In addition to the new playground equipment, new sidewalks have also been installed at East Hall Park. The East Hall Park improvements were recently completed at a cost of approximately $25,000. Funding for the improvements came, in part, from the sale of the former Hall County Parks & Leisure administrative offices on Rainey Street in Gainesville. Those offices moved to North Hall Community Center once it opened in the fall of 2012.
Meanwhile, the new playground equipment at Cool Springs Park was repurposed from a playground originally located at the Hall County Sheriff’s Office’s South Hall Precinct. That facility, which was originally a daycare facility, was purchased in 2014 and converted into the department’s South Hall headquarters.
“Partnering with the Sheriff’s Office to repurpose the existing playground comes at a great savings to taxpayers,” said Mike Little, director of Hall County Parks & Leisure Services. “Our employees added swings and other features to the equipment, so that it suits the needs of those that utilize Cool Springs Park the most.”
In addition to the new playground equipment, fencing was also installed at the park in northwest Hall County. The total cost of the upgrades is approximately $12,000 and was also paid for using proceeds from the sale of the facility on Rainey Street.
The Hall County Board of Commissioners has also approved the paving of the parking lot at Cool Springs. That project is expected to be completed in the next few months and will be funded by SPLOST VII.
“SPLOST VII funds will also be used to restore, replace and construct playgrounds at all Hall County parks over the next five years,” Little said.
The new installments at East Hall Park and Cool Springs Park were a part of both parks’ original master plans but have only been added as funds became available.
Located at 3911 P. Davidson Road in Gainesville, East Hall Park is a 90-acre sports complex complete with a 28,000-square-foot multipurpose community center. In addition to the new playground equipment and sidewalks, the park includes one regulation track, two concession stands with accessible restrooms, two little league size baseball/softball fields, and four tennis courts.
Cool Springs Park is an approximate 75-acre park located in the Chestatee District of Hall County. This park includes 3 lighted baseball/softball fields, a concession/restroom building, and playground area. Cool Springs Park is located at 5579 Cool Springs Road in Gainesville.
